2) OPENING DAY & DECEMBER PLAN

With a little help from Mother Nature and depending on Jiminy Peak’s Operational Plan, we expect team practice to commence on December 7.   On the first day of training, Coaches will meet all athletes on the patio behind Crane Lodge at 9AM. Athletes should be dressed and ready to ski and look for a sign corresponding to their age group (U8/U10/U12/U14/U16/U18).  Athletes will depart from the patio with their age group to ski for the morning session

The complete schedule for December is as follows:

Saturday, December 7 – Regular training day

Sunday, December 8 – Regular training day

Saturday, December 14 - Regular training day

Sunday, December 15 - Regular training day

Saturday, December 21 - Regular training day

Sunday, December 22 - Regular training day

Friday, December 27 – Holiday Camp Day 1

Saturday, December 28 - Regular training day

Sunday, December 29 - Regular training day

Monday, December 30 – Holiday Camp Day 2

Tuesday, December 31 – Holiday Camp Day 3

Saturday, January 4 - Regular training day

Sunday, January 5 – Regular training day

We will continue to meet every Saturday and Sunday through the second weekend in March. Any changes in the schedule will be communicated by the coaches through the Jiminy Peak Race Team website and the Remind app (see instructions in ‘Staying up to Date’ below to subscribe to both of these.)

3) TYPICAL DAY

Regular training typically consists of a morning session and an afternoon session with a lunch break between sessions.   Parents should be aware that they are responsible for supervising their children during the lunch hour, before training, and after training.

Morning Session:          9:00AM - 11:30AM

Lunch:                          11:30AM – 12:30PM

Afternoon Session:        12:30PM - 2:30PM

Should any changes to the schedule be required, coaches will communicate via the JPRT website and Remind.

4) EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

Please consult the Jiminy Peak Race Team Website - https://www.jiminypeakraceteam.org/faq- for a list of equipment requirements and suggestions for each age group.  Please make particular note of helmet requirements:

  • U8/U10/ U12 need a full coverage helmet that has hard ear covers

  • U14 & Older athletes (born in 2008 and earlier) need helmets that are FIS approved and have the approved designation sticker on the helmet

Please clearly mark all skis, poles and clothing with racers name and contact information. To assist coaches to get to know each racer more easily, please put a label on the front of your racer’s helmet with their preferred first name.

TUNING EQUIPMENT:

In addition to the basic equipment requirements, our racers are well served by sharp edges and well-waxed skis.  If possible, we suggest that families invest in tuning equipment, and as such, have compiled a list of products for purchase.  These are just suggestions - you can shop local, shop Amazon, shop second hand -- these are meant only as a guideline.

5) JIMINY PEAK RACE TEAM PARENTS ASSOCIATION

The Jiminy Peak Race Team has an active Parents Association (PA) that facilitates communication of important information to race families throughout the season, coordinates volunteers at Jiminy Peak hosted races and other events, and raises money to support JPRT coaches and racers.  During the season, the Parents Association also coordinates the purchase of medals, racer participation awards and gifts for coaches.  To offset these costs, the Jiminy Peak Race Team Parents Association collects dues for each racer of $50 per racer to be paid by VENMO (please indicate your athlete's name and group, e.g. Bobby Smith, U12).  We are now completely cash-free and request that you pay exclusively through Venmo to @JPRT_PA

6) VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS

  • We are experimenting with a new idea this season -- we are soliciting volunteers to be the Parent Representative for the teams by age group -- i.e. we need a U8 parent rep, U10, U12 and so forth.  The requirements are only that you have at least one year of being on the team, and are friendly and responsive.  Your role will be to be the point of contact for your team: answer questions about races, team info, and possibly pull the racers and parents together for a hot chocolate, etc.  If you are interested, please get in touch with Jennifer Anikst, by reply email.

  • As a parent of a team member, one of your responsibilities is to assist in at least one of the Jiminy Peak sponsored races listed below.  Please note participation is mandatory even if your child does not participate in these specific races.  Sign up sheets will be circulated very soon, and we will be available at the Opening Banquet to answer any questions.

Saturday, February 1 --- U18+ SL

Sunday, February 2 -- U18+ GS

Saturday, February 8 -- U16 SL

Sunday, February 9 -- U14 GS

Saturday, March 1 -- U16 GS

Sunday March 2 – Interclub SL

7) JPRT RACE TEAM JACKET / SPIRIT WEAR

Race Team gear, including hoodies, hats, vests, and accessories are available through Squad Locker and are delivered to you directly from the vendor.  For any questions regarding gear or Karbon orders, please connect with Carolyne Rainero or Heather O'Toole

8) STAYING UP TO DATE

We have several ways to stay in touch with us:

  • The JPRT PA has compiled a distribution list on gmail.  The list is based off of the resort's team registration spreadsheet and is probably less than perfect -- we painstakingly go through and cross-reference emails and names, but because we are not bots, there is room for error.  Please let me know if you'd like your spouse, racer or friend to be included and I'd be more than happy to do so. Likewise, if you would like to be removed, please reply to this email with 'unsubscribe'.

  • You can also be a part of the JPRT_Unofficial Google Group, where you can sell/trade equipment, offer or solicit transportation to races, rent your home or look for a rental -- the options are endless. Please email jprt_unofficial+subscribe@googlegroups.com to be added.

  • The JPRT also utilizes a texting feature called REMIND – It is important that ALL PARENTS enroll in both the REMIND group that corresponds to the age group of their child(ren) AND the JPRT Parents Association group. See below for the relevant links.
